Your Specialist: Caroline (APC, AMBDA)

Specialist Teacher and Assessor Based on the coast at South Shields, I founded Assess My Dyslexia to provide families in the Northeast with high-level diagnostic expertise and empathetic support.

My career spans over twenty-five years of experience across primary teaching and secondary SEN (Special Educational Needs) support. This extensive background has provided me with deep insight into the mechanics of how literacy skills are acquired and applied. More importantly, it has allowed me to witness firsthand the frustration felt by students when things “just don’t click” despite their best efforts.

Professional Standing I understand that a diagnosis is a significant step for any family, which is why I maintain the highest levels of professional accreditation:

  • Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC): This qualification allows me to carry out full diagnostic assessments and provide formal reports for learners up to the age of 16.
  • Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA): This membership reflects a commitment to the highest standards of professional practice in the field of dyslexia.

I was regularly asked by parents why their child didn’t seem to “get it” while others progressed. These questions led me to specialise in dyslexia, ensuring that no child has to struggle without understanding why.

A three-hour comprehensive process including language skills, cognitive profiling, and literacy attainment. You will receive a full report highlighting strengths and specific recommendations for home and school.

Younger Learner Screeners

Shorter, educational assessments for children where a full diagnostic is not yet recommended, focusing on early literacy acquisition and intervention.
